Default TH400 Trans cooler lines (direction)

Hey guys, am I correct in assuming the lower feed/out pipe on a TH400 would lead to the bottom of the cooler, pushing it up and threw and then gravity feeding down back to the upper/return pipe on a TH400?

Forget about gravity or convection, these things use pressure. With the Turbo Hydramatic box's the lower union is the output from the torque converter and the upper union is the return oil which is then sent through the lubrication circuit.
If your talking about an auxilary cooler then it is often said to put the hot side at the bottom and the cool side at the top so that drain back is restricted. Better to have the cooler pointing down and both lines feeding in at the top if possible.
