    Default 1971 hq fuel gauge

    Hello all,
i am new to this site and am here for help with a fuel gauge problem. The gauge (1971 6cyl HQ ute) has not worked for some time and i was led to the believe that the sender needed replacing. I was made aware that the earlier hq sender differed from later models and so was supplied with the appropriate version by our local rare spare agent. The new sender was installed and wired up again, but still no action on the gauge, suspecting faulty wiring i wired the gauge externally of the car. Eg: new wire from sender to gauge and new positive and negative wires directly from battery to gauge. Still no movement ? Could the gauge itself be stuffed as when i pulled the gauge apart for inspection i noticed that the little firecracker shaped resistor located behind the dial face has blackened ends like it burnt out ? any advice would be appreciated.

    Try this video.
My hq stopped working when I switched from big gauge to small one, I sold the car and he later said it was the earth.
