    Default VS Alternator Relocation

    Hi Guys currently in the process of relocating my alternator on my VS Senator to the drivers side. Im sure its been done before can anyone give me tips on brackets they used, issues they've had and how you have solved them.

    Im currently using a aeroflow low mount Torana bracket and im fouling up against the rail and the block...

    Cheers

    .. use the standard type VB-VL alternator bracket used on the V8s*
    no problem with being anywhere near the chassis rail ( and yes, the Torrie
    one is way too low as you found out)

    one tip.. stay away from the VK 'all in one' V8 alternator/aircon bracket
    it is a total mess, a very ugly solution to mounting accessories on an engine

    * looks like this

    Lowe Fabrication sell drivers side bracket that tucks it down beside rail just clears front exhaust port...takes vn-vs efi alternator & chev style

    Bliss Custom sell similar item,same alternators although they said they'll be bringing out another bracket for ls alternator to bolt straight up.

    I tried torrie bracket too,no luck in vh commo with vn heads...had ugly chopped up/modded/heavy steel air con/alt bracket early commo's had.

    Non-air con bracket Smitty posted I couldn't find one to borrow to see if it cleared header pipe so bought Lowe Fab item

    Clearance 'might' be an issue with VN heads, as gtrboy hinted above the front exhaust port is further forward compared to an early head so what works with early heads might not work with VNs. I ran into a similar problem with power steering when I swapped from early to VN heads, the pump set up I used on the early heads wouldn't fit the VNs because of the front pipe.

    The bracket in Smitty's pic fits. Header needs to go on first with VN heads is all. The front header bolt is real close.
