Thanks for your help. I will see if I can work this out as I want to share my passion for my HZ GTS.

I have always liked the HZ GTS as it seems to me as the pinnacle of HQ-HJ-HX development. Although not as popular as the HQ350 coupes to me it is the culmination of the 1970's Holden era.

With a 308, T400, power steer, aircon, RTS, spoiler etc they are like a low flying jet to get from A to B.

My story starts in 1978 and takes nearly 40 years to finish. I had a part time after school job at Safeway Thriftpark in Parkdale where an older worker (he must have been 25 ish) brought in a new or near new HZ GTS in Flamenco red. I thought that it was the best looking car I had ever seen and vowed to one day own one. I forgot about the car until I came across a GTS on ebay and decided to buy it.

Here are a few pictures of what I bought.

My plans are simple. Refurbish and restore everything I can to make it as good as new. Even better than new. In fact it has to have more power and handle better than the factory ever dreamed of.

First up is to get to know the car by stripping it down.

Thanks Tonnerguy. I bought the 15x8 Pontiac Rallye wheels from Summit Racing in USA when the A$ was high. Still have them and they will go on when the project is finished but the turbo mags were on the car when I got it. Cheers.

Ha good happy about that, nowadays deep dish chrome wheels really stand from the crowd.

Lucky with the cowl, that is a bugger of a job and the replacements are only somewhat like the original shape, that boot lid looks repairable though.

Both cowls were in exceptional condition. There was only one tiny little bit of rust in the lower part of the cowl that is easy fixed. Unusually though there was some rust in the corner as in this picture.

Now up on the rotissarie to see what is really going on. Floors are looking good with not much rust other than surface rust.

    Next off to the sandblasters.
