Thanks for the offer. After looking at the writeup Pez did on patching the hole in his boot it looks like getting the repair sections will be the easy part.

Wanted to move the wagon on the weekend, rigged up a makeshift fuel system only to find fuel pouring out of the carb. As it had been sitting for a long time and also running LPG when I got it I wasn't surprised. Pulled the carb to run a kit thru it and was couldn't believe what I found

Obviously hadn't run petrol for a long time!! No sign of the float but the metal arm was still there and the APT valve can't be removed. Almost looks like there was a fire in the float bowl.

Also a passage in the base plate has been filled with epoxy.

Haven't seen anything about this modification being done on a quaddy before.

After all this I've decided not to rebuild this carb as it seems to be to far gone.

Wow, that quaddy looks a mess. Mine had the choke removed for lpg, but that was about it. Fortunately there are plenty around for not too much money. Many people don't realise how good they really are.

I wasn't really surprised when I pulled the gas hat off and found the choke parts completely gone but the internal stuff is just strange.

Went to fit my replacement carb tonight only to find that 3 out of 4 bolt holes in the manifold are stripped so out for a helicoil set in the morning, just have to work out what thread the bolts are.

The internal issues are possibly due to backfires from the lpg? There most likely was a fire in the fuel bowl from a backfire when running on lpg

That's what I have been thinking.

Matty 12 is right about the a/c there is a micro switch on the passenger's vent slide that triggers the system. The front system is made by a company called Air International. The back is something that has been added. Have a good look where the low pressure pipe (larger diameter) runs & see if there's any rust because if that pipe/hose isn't covered in a bituminous tape the hose will "sweat" moisture from the humidity in the air around it.
The needles on the instruments on HZs are yellow HX are white. I knew a (house) painter years ago who painted a HX dash to fit into his HZ wagon but couldn't figure why the gauges were inaccurate. How much does paint weigh?
if your going to replace the headlamps try to get H4 high/low & H1 high with "freeform" reflectors & fit +100 halgen globes (don't go +120 they blow too easy still)

Been a while but there has been some action lately. So after waiting 9 months my mate finally called me on Friday to say he had my chassis and wagon shell ready to collect so off I trundled at 8pm Friday night to collect my bits.

Have been trying to get some rust repairs done on the cowl done over the last couple of months but every Sat or Sun that I had some time to get to it was a total fire ban and with a neighbor that is not on board with my hobby and nowhere inside to do the work welding and grinding were out

Got the chassis cleaned and painted today ready to go in

Grabbed a sandblaster from Supercheap a few weeks ago, didn't expect much but have found it does an ok job on small parts. Would take forever to do panels with it. Did the upper and lower arms but no paint yet.

Got the passenger side cowl done, just needs some paint. As most of them do it didn't look that bad till I cut it open.

Got my brake booster done a few weeks ago. Had the dash out to remove the AC, change the pedals and sort some wiring so decided while the booster was 'easy' to get to. I have decided to run a WB master cylinder to neaten the engine bay a little as it has the proportioning valve built in.

The other thing that has kept me busy has been the electric tailgate winder. Between skipping gears and no power something had to be done. No surprise to find that there was some rust in the bottom of the tailgate YAY. Got the mech out and after looking over the factory manual found out how to take the motor off without loosing an arm, opened the motor up to find.

Between the dried up rock hard grease on the winder mech, the striped out threads on the motor mount and the non existent brushes there was no hope for this window.

Couldn't find a direct replacement for the brushes so found something close and filed it down, helicoiled the threads and gave it a lick of paint, just need to fix the rust in the tailgate and slap it back together

As you can see someone had some fun with the original screws, explains the striped threads.

Is your booster a HZ or WB type? because you will need an adapter to use the WB master cylinder on a HZ booster. They are not cheap to buy.

The main thing I don't have is a fuel tank but that won't be holding me up for a while.

Got a bit more done today.

Most of the front suspension has now been sandblasted and painted, also managed to press in new bushes
