    Default Tonner project

I picked this tonner up around 5 years ago. At the time I was looking for a decent one that I could just drive and enjoy, little did I know all the hidden treasures this one had. It was the guys pride and joy that I purchased it off. But when I got it home the more I looked over it the more I regreted buying it. The guy was supposedly using it as his daily yet it didn't make it the 250km back to my place.

After fixing the engine and wiring I drove it for a year before parking it in the shed where it sat for close to 3years with no love.

Heres a few pics of ebay when I purchased it.

You're right it looked pretty good. At the time I was looking for a tonner there wasn't that many for sale so I was in too much of a rush to get. It was inexperience on my part not looking over it more thoroughly.

Apart from the initial hiccup of not making it home which cost me a set of heads and a new radiator the vehicle needs a complete rewire, nothing much works and after having a look a lot of wires are either cut or not there.

When I brought it I was under the assumption I had a HJ one tonner, but in reality it is a HQ chassis which definitely isn't a tonner chassis as it is shorter and the cabin is off a HZ.

HK1837 I know you are the man when it comes to model numbers so when I get home I'll put up the chassis number and you might be able to tell me what it is from.

This is how it sat for a about 3 years before I finally started on it. It was a good storage space for my kart

Finally got it out of the carport and into my shed.

Old mate thought it was a good idea to cut a big hole in the tray floor and stick a dirty big toolbox in there.

Pulled the tray off to start working on the chassis. Notice where the fuel filler comes through the side panel, whatever the chassis came out of (I'm guessing style side ute) it is at least 100+mm shorter.

I used 75x75 for the post and 2mm sheet to fill in the sides.

Geez , it looked clean in that first pic . I'd be interested to know what that chassis is out of as well . What's the plan of attack , full rebuild or repairing what it needs to get it roadworthy ?
