Wow, that's pretty good work, you might get a heap of orders if it works well.

    Cheers.

They’re easy enough to model on the computer and I wondered how it would go 3D printing but my mate reckons they would charge about $100 to print one unless you have your own. So my time is free and it wasn’t that hard to make.

Well it turns and slides the rod inside to switch so I guess I have to throw it all back into the car.

IT RUNS. And it keeps running now when you release the key. Yaya. had to add a 12v wire to the coil for some reason. But yay.
Now I just need to work out my oil pressure up to the rockers. I have no oil delivery to the rockers. And not sure what oil pressure I have because I shorted out the new oil pressure gauge I just brought so it reads max pressure all the time. Dam it. I have poured oil into the oil pressure port until it dribbled out. So that should be primed? Correct me if there’s another way.

But it runs and no black smoke like it used to. Yay hahaha

Nice One! I shorted my Autometer gauge as well. The needle is just wedged. Slacken off the rear nuts/screws at the back of the gauge and it should sort itself out.

Still no oil pressure. I brought a mechanical oil pressure gauge and nothing.. I pulled the pump off and filled that with as much oil as I could and still nothing. It's the same pump as before I pulled the engine apart and the dash light used to go out. Could I have left something out when assembling the engine?

So I have installed a new oil pump. I primed it before installing. Still no oil pressure. How long do I give it running for it to pressurise?
Oil is up to the full mark but it is a new stick and pipe. Does anyone have a 6 cylinder that they could measure the length of the pipe from the block to the opening and then the stick from the full line to the underneath of the handle? As I have modified the sump I can’t tell how much oil I should have but I am pretty dam sure that there is enough to cover the pick up.

    Buggered if know what’s wrong

Off with the rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, dizzy, oil pump, fuel pump, harmonic balancer, water pump fan, timing cover and radiator out. All to remove the camshaft so I could see if there is a plug missing from behind the gear.

And guess what? After all that, there is a plug missing

I spoke to the engine builder and he hinted towards this. Its like a frost plug that will get smacked in there. At least now I have figured out why I have no oil pressure.
So now I get a plug and reassemble.

    HI

If u are using cork gaskets to ensure they never leak .

New o rings on side cover bolts
Scuff chrome always ,nuthin sticks to polished chrome

    Use holden gasket/head stud sealer
Cork is porous eg oil goes thru the actual material
    This sealer stops this
Place gasket on cardboard [gskt packaging ] and massage the sealer into cork
Emery tape the tin surface on the valve cover ,side plates etc

U will need a sump splitter tool to remove once sealer has dried

I use Loctite aviation glue [brown ] non hardening on other gaskets

Cheers mate. Nah still in Auckland. The only reason we were moving to papamoa was to be with the father in law but sadly he passed away. The motivation to move has gone.
Once the kids have moved out we may get there but that could be a few years yet.
