Default Genuine HQ Statesman Chev Deville REBUILD

Well I was looking for a nice statesman For the old man for a birthday present (He Used to own one when he was my age) after a year of looking I found a dusty looking Statesman advertised as a HQ Holden on ebay with really bad photos after looking I realised it was a Statesman

So I rang the number and got no one so I sent a msg through ebay with my number and waited a few months went by and I had fogotten about the vehicle in the mean time we bought a red 2004 Monaro cv8 so we had stopped looking.

Then this lady rang up out of the blue and asked if we would still like to buy her statesman at the time the starting bid was $7000 and had no bids during the auction sooffered her $5000 long story short she sent new photos of the car after it had been washed and polished and it was imaculate in the end we paid $7000 for it was a genuine 308 HQ Deville minor rust good paint imaculate interior everything working from a deceased estate turns out though it was this ladies brother and he had a collection of statesmans.

She invited me done to see the other vehicles when we picked up the one we had bought I couldn't turn down an offer like this I thought so we planned a trip down a couple of weeks after to pick the vehicle up and have a look at the other cars.

I live in far north qld and run a mechanical workshop and had a new mechnic starting who needed some of his gear bought up to far north So i decided to buy a car trailer after a quick look on ebay I sourced a car trailer out of sydney near were the cars were and got the lady to fit a tow ball to the statesman, this was going to be a long drive back to cairns.

Now on to the good bit I wasn't planning on buying another statesman but as it turns out after getting there she had 5 statesmans for sale in different states of repair including a green HQ Statesman Deville Chev Genuine matching numbers needless to say I made an offer and became the proud owner of the ugly green beast after some slight modification's to the trailer we had it loaded after checking over the 308 statesman father and I headed of for our 2500km drive home.

We made it all the way to cairns we only had to replace the radiator and water pump not bad for a 40 year old car hey anyway enough with the talk here are some photos I am planning on restoring it back to original condition and not butchering it I have been told a bench seat chev statesman is also very rare and the orignal green with whit interior would have to be as well...

I will get some photos of the other statesman you can also see the trailer we used to tow it back with in the second photo..

definately a long haul home, looks like it was well worth the trip though. I did a long trip like that (3200 kms)to pick up my tonner once, and once was enough. Throw up a few more pics of the other car, everyone around here likes pictures

I love these things. My parents had one, had it in storage for years, I was shattered when I found out he sold it to a wrecker. I'll be watching your thread for sure.

I've been watching this forum and there are bloody HQ's everywhere but no HQ statos. I was even thinking of starting a thread "Where have all the hq statos gone"

Anyway, I'm betting/hoping the wrecker sold my parents on. So here is a lead for anyone who bought a HQ Stato from a wreckers near Newcastle in the last 5 years or so, I may have your matching numbers 350 Chev and transmission.

Beutiful, HQ has the best rear end design out of all the statos.

Let me know when your tired of them.
