    Default grandpa's UC sunbird project

    hay all

picked up my new toy a month or so ago after stumbling upon it on ebay, never really liked UC's or the idea of buying a car off ebay but this one caught my eye and for 3grand and many questions i thought stuff it lets take the plunge.

im gunna leave the body and paint how it is but have few plans for the driveline, a week or so after the torana rolled up i picked up a VK berlina fitted with a injected 5ltr from a vs clubsport. The vk belonged to a mate of mine a few years back and went well, its fitted with a mild cam and yella terra roller rockers. backing up the 5ltr is a 2500 stall and a shift kitted T350 box. i picked the whole car up for $900 pulled all the parts i needed off then sold the rest for a couple hundred so i think i did ok outta that.

    plans include
    304 EFI motor
    T350 auto
vn v8 lsd diff with disc brakes
    hopper stoppers 290mm front brakes
    all new bushes
respray engine bay and repair minow rust

just a quick question.. the vk came with pace maker extractors to fit the 304 injected motor... these seemed to hug the block very tight in the vk does anyone know if they will come close to fitting the torana???

updates will be abit slow due to money and the roster i work but ill keep them coming as they happen

    anyway time for some pics

Cool, i had a uc sunbird years ago, bog stock 173, auto, i chucked a 400 hp 308, racematic, 4000 stall, 9 inch, it was good fun.

p.s - dont fit a visor thing over front windscreen as they fold backwards at 180 + km.

haha wow, stumbled accross this accidently, barely remember putting it up!!

Well i ended up getting it on the road, it served duties in my wedding and did a bit of cruising then a drunken conversation the night before a burnout comp led to me getting the car ready for some skids in the middle of the night.....long story short got a little carried away and hurt the motor...now plans have changed and car is heading in a different direction. Decided to ditch the injection.

Basically new setup is as follows

Holden 355 stroker, scat crank, scat rods, SRP forgies 11:1 comp, 1/2inch main studs, 288 solid cam, VN heads and harrop single plain prepped by TK383, proform 750, MSD programable ignition, will see some giggle gas in the future

Freshen up of the TH350 and a 4500 stall built by A&K Converters from adelaide.

Engine bay is being done again as i wasn't happy with how it came out last time, few other bits and pieces getting done aswell but nothing major.

I'll Chuck some pics up ASAP

Yeah haha, the unloved torana. Black sheep of the family! I've got one sitting in the shed too. They're not that ugly in the scheme of things.

haha, i'm an internet genius lol

Well thats the photo that made me take a punt on the car, bought it sight unseen and hoped and prayed it was as good as it looks. It turned up in adelaide and i had a mate collect it as i was working, sat in his shed for three weeks before i got to see it.....was as good as i hoped, not perfect but not bad at all.

Then decided to drop the injected 5L in, only work that was paid for was the exhaust, all the rest was done at home in the shed, dont have pics of engine bay finished but it wasn't bad, just not 100% happy

And did all the front end, 290mm hopper stoppers and everything replaced

Then used it in our wedding

Cruised it like that for a bit, then hurt the donk doing skids, so now its in bit again, will put up more photos when i get a chance
