    Default Bathurst HT 350

I was wondering if anyone can identify this block for me? It was in a HT 350 Monaro and I am keen to know if it is the original motor. Cheers.

Might be. Would need to see the engine number pad. Is it a C or G in the cast date?
Is it a 2 or 4 bolt? Could be either if it is a GTS350 block. Any heads?

The heads are still with the car i believe. The engine number was ground off when the block was decked years ago. Its a 2 bolt and the cast date is G. I was hoping there might be some other way of identifying it.

If it was from a HT/HG it is from an auto car as all manuals were 4 bolt.

Lots of manuals were decked in the early 70’s during rebuild but autos weren’t.

388 block is the Tonawanda 4” bore block for 1969 model year so very common, although they also used some Saginaw foundry blocks too but we only got those here in a few manual cars.

What casting number are the heads?

Given that cast date i’d say it was an L65 (2BBL 350/250hp), but it could possibly be an engine from a HT-HG too as they are just a Tonawanda L65 with L48 auto carb/manifold and GTS327 dizzy - they were special build for GMH as in the USA the L65 replaced the LM1 in January 1969, LM1 is what a HT-HG 350 auto engine is (just had the HK’s dizzy here).

Sorry Byron, I should have mentioned that it had a powerglide. My brother sold this car 20 years ago, but I know where it is and wanted to offer the fellow who owns it now the block that was in the car when it came into our hands. I was assuming that it was the original motor but wanted to make sure before I rang him.

What heads? It may well be the original from the car, and has been decked.

As far as I know, the heads are still fitted to the motor that is currently in the car, but I can't confirm at this stage. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We sold that car for $3,500!!!
