    Hi
    ++ Battery connect to starter
    Alternator connected to starter motor

    -- connected to engine block near starter and chassis and body

    That's how u would typically wire it but check with authorities

    I'm not sure of the current rules but there was a push a while ago that technically it had to kill the vehicle and power. So a 4/6 pin type isolator etc would be used. (2 or more contacts). Main power on large poles and either alt sense type cut and/or ignition cut on others.
    After an ummm discussion on the cheap plastic magneto switches that were blessed ok to use but solid state relays were not welcome with a certain chief scrutineer who knew everything, i was pulled up at the next event for an umm random audit in which the first thing looked at was if the switch killed the vehicle whilst running(which it did)... Amazingly his super pro earth cut out didn't !!!
    At a guess i'd say well over 50% aren't wired as such. Most simply cut Batt + or - wiring , but vehicle will still run as alt is generating voltage usually wired to starter etc.

    I have one installed in the race car .....
    (looks a bit busy 'coz I have a push button starter next to it)

    battery is bolted down on the back passenger floor ( CAMS scrutes are funny about cables.. anything running thru rear firewalls)
