    Default HJ electric window motors

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any experience in getting the old window motors stripped and cleaned up to return to working order.

I have a couple doing the same thing when power is applied to the terminals but my knowledge is pretty basic and i cant find much info on them online.

Basically i have cleaned up the rotor contacts for the bushes to run on, checked some basic ohm readings on the rotor itself but when power is applied only one magnet is doing its job so it just pulls the rotor over to one side rather than making it spin. Any info would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Simon,

It's been a long while since I fooled around with one of these but are you earthing the motor housing when you are testing?

Thanks for the replies , Willie, spot on mate i earthed the housing as well and away it goes. Thanks very much for your help, saved me a few hundred bucks at rare spares.

    Cheers

Made the same mistake myself a long time ago & assumed the two wires were positive and negative!

Also I installed thicker battery cables and that helped speed up the windows.
