Default Firewall Holes - Holden HZ

Just wondering if someone can tell me what some of these holes are for in my firewall. I already know what some of them are, but I'd appreciate the input, and it will probably help others in the future. Yeah, I took photos - but you never take enough of the right ones!

    Thanks

1 - Rogue hole - not present on other cars. Weld the bastard up!
2 - Accelerator cable (square shaped plastic grommet)
    3 - Main wiring loom
4 - Still a mystery hole. Sealed with rubber substance on Statesman
5 - Speedo (Trimatic or Manual) or rubber grommet (TH400)
6 - Manual Choke or Rubber Grommet. Used for radio antenna cable on one car.
7 - Clip holding mat to firewall, or rubber grommet
8 - Grommet with some wires and vacuum lines for A/C
9 - Clutch Cable, or grommet
10 - Approximate location of hole for speedo cable if TH400 installed
    11 - Steering Column
    12 - Brake Booster
    13 - Wiper motor
    14 - Washer lines
15 - Earth strap for wiper motor
16 - Useless hole in the floorpan
17 - Another useless non original hole

Other Notes - Hole 9 has been used for Speedo Cable on TH400 in a Statesman, but other cars may have a hole at point 10. If theres no hole in position 10, there's a small dimple where the hole should go.

Integrated A/C cars will have the 3 overlapping holes in the heater box assembly as shown on this car.

    Thanks to 253HXTUNNA, matty12, states_man, Dan66, HK1837, HJPrem75, Captain Kingswood for their valuable input.

Ok - I'll take your word for it, and I've updated the original list - but this car is an auto with an auto choke. If you're right, then the holes are there anyway, and not being used for my car.

i think number 7 is a plastic clip which holds the interior mating to the firewall.

just looking at my HZ Statesman now, it is.............

    1. nothing, no grommet, no hole.
    2. accelerator cable.
    3. main loom.
    4. sealed with a putty substance.
    5. rubber grommet.
    6. rubber grommet.
    7. sealed with a putty substance.
    8. Aircond vacuum line and wires.
    9. goes to T400, guessing speedo cable.

hope this helps, nice work by the way.

Thanks heaps. Looks as though holes might be used for different things depending on your transmission or gearbox. I'd be interested in what others can tell me.

Thanks for taking to time to look. Much appreciated. I've updated the main list.

Had a look at mine, HZ, 4.2, Trimatic on the tree, A/C. Standard as.

tick 1 - Rogue hole - Weld the bastard up!
    tick 2 - Accelerator cable
tick 3 - Main wiring loom
grommet 4 - nothing to do with brake pedal that I can see.
tick 5 - Speedo or rubber grommet
grommet 6 - Choke? Lines up perfect for choke on V8, but they didn't have one? Anyone with a 6?
grommet 7 - no mat in mine
Tick 8 - Grommet with some wires and vacuum lines for A/C
Grommet 9 - used for Gas fit. Clutch mech would line up

4 is the mystery and someone with a choke should comment on 6.

8 is for integrated A/C. YOu can tell this is an A/C car by the 3 x overlapping holes just below where the fan barrel goes.
5 is trimatic or manual speedo cable hole. Has grommet in TH400 cars. TH400 sooedo cable goes where the shaft of the arrow is above the 9.
    9 is HX/Z clutch cable.

I've updated the main entry, thanks for all the input. Looks like I'll be welding up quite a few of these holes!

Don't hate me, but I decided to mark all the holes on the firewall so that is a complete reference for others. Perhaps I'll ask a mod to pin the entry once we've completed the list.

    Cheers

A picture of a HJ firewall from another thread. This car has a TH400 and Air Con - you can see the speedo cable hole which is different to mine. Also, the wiring loom connector hole is square.

Just checked some earlier photos. On my HJ hole 6 is for the radio antenna.

Thanks for that. Does yours have a manual choke cable? I will update the main entry.
