Default To use sealant or not?

Wasn't sure where to put this but anyways
I've got to do some work on the daily 96 pajero v6.
I've got to replace some gaskets on coolant pipes etc, these gaskets are metal with black coatings and like perforated where they seal.like a MLS head gasket?
Anyway do i apply sealant to these or not ?
    Thanks benno

HI mate, i don't use anything on those type of gaskets or most for that matter providing you have a half decent surface.
On my thermostat housings etc I just use a fine file to draw across the surface to take any high spots off usually around the bolt holes and I've never had an issue in 20 odd years of doing this.
