Default Charity Car Show / Skidpan Day at DECA Shepparton

The Goulburn Valley Car Club will be holding a fundraising day in Shepparton on New Years Eve. It will be held at DECA on Wanganui Rd. All proceeds from the day will be going to the volunteer fire fighters who have put their asses on the line for all of us during the last couple of months & got nothing in return.

A quick outline of the day is as follows...
* gates open at 9:30am - 5pm
* events include driving events, motorkana, demo's, show n shine plus much more.
* there will be a raffle running all day with numerous prizes up for grabs
* food & drinks available

Cost it $30 per antrant for driving events, $5 if you only want to go in the show n shine & $5 for every other spectator. Children under 12 free.

All enquires ph Steve on: 0409 869 972

Please note... Every car must have full & current registration & if participating in the driving events the vehicle must be safe & rwc (secured battery, seatbelts etc...) & although everyone is encouraged to get out there and have a go the rules are very strict. Be a ****head and your out of there.

See you's all there!

Why on New Year's Eve??? I would be hell keen for that event, but definitely just not on new year's eve, bummer Sounds like a lot of fun though. How many entrants are there? Will there be lots or little skidpan time for each entrant?

There has been alot of interest so far, but it all depends on how many turn up as to how much time each person gets on the pan. Its from 9:30 - 5 so theres just on 7 hours of driving time all up.

Ok everything is up and its all going ahead.

Gates open at 9:30am there will be an unloading area to your left as you drive in for people towing there cars. The main show n shine area will be the stretch of road up the right side of the skidpan and back towards the centre.

There will be about 6 different types of driving events happening on the pad during the day which will go for approx 1 hour each (depending on hour many cars turn up) and between these events is the free time where everyone gets to take their car out there and do what they want for 40secs. Within reason of course. Any dangerous/reckless activity will not be tolerated, no static burnouts, no popping of tyres on the pad. Just have abit of common sense and take in the fact that there will be spectators standing around.

Strictly an alcohol free event, anyone caught drinking will be told to get rid of it and if they dont will be told to leave.

Other than that we hope it turns out to be a really good day.

Seey you's there

The event went off without a problem in the world, didn't have any problems with cops, entrants or spectators & everyone was well behaved.

We had a few issues with getting the public liability insurance which caused us to nearly cancel it but it came through at the last minute. We had over 60 entrants there and considering we only had a week to put the whole thing together & 4 days worth of advertising I think it was a damn good day!

We had alot of interest from the majority of entrants/spectators there showing their support and wanting more events such as these. At this stage we are in the planning stage but will most likely hold 4 per year.

We made over $1000 for the cfa guys, thanks to everyone that showed their support and turned up and see you at the next one!

Ok heres the word we are organising another one of these events as we had so much interest in the first. It will most likely be held around april or a little earlier. Same format will apply with proceeds going to charity and open to anyone.

VK, it would be great if you could post up photo's from the New Years Eve event, it would create further interest for future events.
