    Post Ford 351 inlet manifold

    G'day

I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I have a 2v 351c and its running pretty tired, i am looking at investing in an inlet manifold and have given serious thought to a number.
    Widowmaker: In just parts magazine
    Typhoon: in just parts magazine
    Street Torker: at tweakit.com
    And some others from vpw.com
    They range from about $350-$650.
If it does a better job I dont mind paying a little extra.

The engine has 2.5" genie extractors and a holley 650dp, the car is on gas.
I want to spice the engine up a bit but a rebuild is just a little further along in the works.
Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I certainly wouldnt be buying a new one, cruise the swap meets or check the
ads in the perf. mags. You should pick one up for a fraction of the money.
The good thing about intake manifolds is the fact that they dont wear out.

I don't know much aboutgasengines but I think they preform better with a duel plane manifold http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=8010, if it is a duel fuel car with a descent cam I would run a X-Celerator as I do in my XY http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=7516 It provides great streetable performance from 1500 to 7000RPM, but if you are planing a all out street/strip weapon I would go a Funnelweb http://www.fomoco.com.au/Funnelweb.htm I know a few guys getting great results from this manifold.

As for buying second hand manifolds, you can save yourself a little bit of cash but keep in mind it could be cracked, could of been machined wrong at the manifold/head joining point or even had the runners miss ported, just a few thing to keep an eye out for when looking a second hand manifolds, personally I would only fit a new one to my engine, but that is only my opinion.

    I hope this helps.
That is a sweet noise you got there man, I had you picked clear across the valley............

    Thanks for that.
I have narrowed it down to three possibles:
    1. X-CELERATOR- $380
    2. Weiand Stealth- $289
    3. Street Torker- $399
The X-celerator and the Torker seem to be around the same price range but the stealth is cheaper, why would that be?
Thanks heaps CLEVO. The X-celerator seems to be the way to go.
Thanks redebxr8 but for a few dollars more I would rather not have the stress that could come with a second hand manifold.
My train of thought on this build has been to do it once and do it properly.
The car is too heavy for a street weapon but I want to be able to surprise a few people at the lights. I want to mix good looks with decent-wild performance.
If I did buy the funnel web and put it on the motor in its current condition would it make a differance since the engine is not "toughened up" yet?
I do plan on the rebuild but not until funds allow.
I am thinking it could be a waste of time buying a lesser manifold if I could get better performance down the track with the rebuild.

    Thanks everyone.

if you have the money, id go a tfc highrise job but you are looking to spend round the 700 buck mark for that, i had a weiand x-cellerator on my last 351 it was a good lil manifold engine made round 450hp at the fly

    AussieLTD.

Go the whole bit and get the engine done when you have the cash. My ex 351 was modified. 10 thou off deck and heads, 15 thou high crown short skirt pistons, moly rings, dual fuel (crow hi torque) cam, gas heads, high volume oil pump, full balance and a bit of throating out on the ports. Used the original inlet manifold and coupled it to a 2 1/2 inch single exhaust. On gas it was putting out 276 hp and 292 on petrol. Originally 217 hp from the factory. It was great for towing and the cam kicked in about 2000 rpm. Pulled to 5700 rpm. There was no need to go for an aftermarket manifold and if your engine is a bit tired, I think it would be a waste of time and cash.

    cheers...doc
