Next I went to Autobarn and bought a roll of grey carpet with black speckle in it. Standard speaker box carpet basically and covered the false floor, side cover and rear tail light assembly.

Note : The brown square piece was origionally going to be a clear perspex window to view the amp but I have since decided to use some aluminium checkerplate instead. Reason is I can score some from my work

Followed by the sub box which i made to fit into the rear of the boot. I shaped it the same angle as the back of the seat so it would fit snuggly and be easily attached to the steel opposing the rear seat.

Next.

This is where Mrs Berlina comes into the picture. We got out the old singer sewing machine and proceeded to sew some carpet to make the spare wheel cover.

Pics coming soon.

Wire up the good old jay car amp and Sub which fits into the compartment I made in the false floor.

Next came the false backing which both encloses the sub and has storage for a basic toolbox and fire extinguisher.

Getting close to finished now.

Just need to cover the wheelarches, cut out some aluminium for the amp cover and hinge the sub box sorround so it lifts up to access both the fire extinguisher and tool box.

its looking good mate..
your amp might get a little warm in there..

you should cut a hole either side, and put small 12v fans that are triggered by the remote wire...

it'll keep everything minty fresh....
lookin horn so far though.

Actually thats a good idea Mark. Dont want to use that fire extinguisher unless really necessary

Would be easy enough to do and cost very little. A couple of small fans wont draw to much current so it should be ok to run from the remote power supply as you suggested.

Cheers

looks good, Simon.

source some 12v computer fans. you can get 2500 rpm ones that make next to no noise

yea thats what i had.. a few 12v fans, i think they were 12cm or 15cm... you can even get fans that have a dial that controls the fan speed for a few extra bucks... just incase the temp gets over 30 or so...
keeps everything safe.

Nice Job Simon, I'm planning to do a similar boot install on the XY minus the audio equipment I hope it comes up as good as yours did.
