Default Spacer Saving Sub Setup

I need some help with a sub system to go in my VN, normally it would't be a problem for a standard VN, but my VN has a 120L LPG gas tank under the parcel shelf.
I want a sub but also want to have as much boot space as possible & keep the spare if possible as well, bcoz my sister keeps borrowing it a couple of times a month at least, & it gets used as a luggage carrier during hoildays.

I was thinking along the lines of a pioneer ute sub against the r/h rear 1/4 panel.
I've got 4 pioneer 6x9's lined up (2x2-ways 359 watt & 2x5-ways 460 watt), and I was thinking of a Fusion POWER PLANT FP-505 (5 channel amp) and a Fusion 1.2 farad capicitor.
has anyone got any ideas on how i can achieve this? any suggestions would be extremely helpful, thanx guyshithead

the pioneer 5 ways dont sound very good... go the 4 ways, go into the shop and have a listen. the 4 ways are alot clearer and louder.

and only get them in your rear parcel shelf.

get some vr/vs door pods and screw them into your front door. then get a good set of splits (pioneer bullets if you wanna stay pioneer. theyre a mid price speaker). have the 6" behind the door pod and the tweeter where your original speakers are on the dash.

you can just get one kick ass powerful 10" sub... might take up 30cm of box room, and you can get it installed in a corner (sub facing out) and thatll give you plenty of bass.

besides that i can only suggest going to an audio store and talkin to them. take your car and they should look at it all for ya.

when i bought my car, it had a small alpine sub to save space. the shop moved it and played with my amp, got double as much bass

get a free air sub, you don't need to box it that way, and these days they sound just as good.

a sub that doesnt need a box. normal subs sound best with a certain size box. a free air sub doesnt need a box, eg free air.

besides the sub itself, remember a good amp and the position of the sub has alot to do with the level of bass that gets into the cab.

wouldnt an infinite baffle ( free air ) sub be required to mount on the parcel shelf ........ wouldnt imagine there would be much room after that gas tank was put there .

if space is really at a premium and your not after earth shattering competition type of sound system / bass.
then maybe try a good quality set of 6 x 9's on the rear shelf a good set of 6in splits in the front door's and some bass engines mounted to the under side of the front seats.
power it all with a reasonable quality amp/'s and you will be surprised as to the sound you will get.

had a mate who had a similar setup in a vl and when it was cranking i coulda sworn it had a 10in sub in the boot i was quite amazed

wtf do bass engines do and how do they work? i've seen a pair for $80 and they look like they just have inputs and no outputs... is this cheap?
I would really like to know how they work and what is involved in them?

for the want of better wording the basics behind a bass engine is it is bassically the voice coil and magnet off a sub and it vibrates like shit to give the illusion of bass .... the reasoning behind how this works is that bass notes arent actually heard but felt the way how a sub in the boot works and is still felt in the cabin its not directional to a point and you feel it rather than hear it ..

when mounted under a seat it vibrates in tune to the rest of the system and need to be hooked up as per a sub on the low pass filter of the amp and accentuates the bass coming out of the rest of the system..
giving the illusion there is infact a sub somewhere.
whilst my description prolly doesnt sound the best.
but for a smallish budget system that has no space they do work although only in the cabin you definatley wont get the ' doof doof ' outside like a sub setup but inside your prolly hard pressed to tell there isnt a sub....
me personally i wouldnt use them i will sacrifice space for subs lol had an escort with 8 10's in the back seat area and many a corty with zero boot but big sound although im getting older so current corty only got a single 15 instead of multiple 12's....lol
regards
jerome
