Default Problem with front/rear

Hey guys got a bit of a prob

Running a pioneer head unit and a jbl 4 channel amp. Right now I have only the front speakers connected, they work fine and all but when I put the fader to the rear I still get sound coming from the front speakers? If I take the rear rca's out of the hu the sound goes away but when I put them in its there, even when the rca's arent connected at the other end.... Really frustating coz when I put the fader to the front I still get sound out of the sub which is running on the rear channel rca's split to the sub amp.

Any ideas please feel free to suggest

Thanks
