my amp has been unpowered and off for a month or so, i went to connect the positive back up, the ignition was off... keys out... went to scew the the cable in, and im guessing i must have tilted the screw driver, and the 12v positive must have touched the metal casing of the amp, a few big sparks flew, now the amp seems to kinda not be working, no lights or anything, i cant test the output as the remote wire isnt hooked up to it (current head unit doesnt have one) however i checked all three fuses... all were still fine...
think its dead? its a pioneer four channel, cost $450 ![]()

bridge the remote wire from the positive wire, or take the backing off and look for signs of heat, have a good sniff around too, your nose knows when stuff is cooked.

so if i put a cable from the positive... big fat red cable that goes into the amp.. into the bit where the skinny amp remote cable goes, the amp will be fine?

Yep from that big 12 volt cable to the little remote cable that will turn the amp on for you to see if it works. Just just remember to disconnect it once you are finished otherwise you could flatten your battery if you leave it for a while.
All the remote is like a trigger, so your headunit usually supply's the 12v to turn the amp on so its not on all the time. |
