Red face How to find out if my motor is hot?

Hey guys,

im just wondering what's the best way to find out if my motor is hot or not in QLD? got the motor off a dodgy bloke im not too sure on and before i get too carried away I want to make sure its legal.

Also, am I able to run the 186 motor in a 76 hx ute? I have been told due to it being an older motor and not having the emissions stuff i am unable to get it regoed but it does have a later model intake manifold and a later model rocker cover with the PCV valve

All help appreciated

Cheers

Tyler

technically the rules are if it is a motor from an older car and you are trying to put it into a newer car you run into alot of issues with emisions and things like that.

regarding emissions, all emission control crap must be fitted from either the motor or original car, which ever is newer. So new motor into older car needs new motor emission junk and older motor in newer car needs newer cars emission standards met
