thats what im also wondering ^^
im pretty sure that if the profile of the entire wheel matches to the stock one , e.g. same height then it shouldnt be a problem should it???

go look at your factory tyre placecard, and find out what the max size on it..
the SS's came with 235/45/17
in Victoria, we can have a max of 1.5cm larger DIAMETER larger than stock
putting that into the calc i made a while ago (see attached)
with 245/35/20 rubber, they wouldnt be legal IN VIC..
many people put newer car placecards over their old ones (VE SS would work) to make it LOOK legal..
but some cops would pick up on it pretty quick one would suggest.

bolt them on, put a new placecard on it, and if you get busted, put some 18's back on it

ebay normally has them.
look for some off a VE - ss-v would have 19's which would proabbaly put you in the range of having 20's
but remember, a lot of cops are pretty knowledgeable, look at doc and lx406 for example... and im sure they aint the only cops who know cars inside out, and when they see a placecard saying 19's on a VT, its gunna be obvious

I was under the impression that the size rule is now related to overall diameter, not just the rim diameter. So if your tyre diameter is within the acceptable range it should be okay. Plus the GTS had 18s using the same hubs, and the hubs etc were the same right through to VZ, and they had 18s on the SS. You could also get an engineers cert on it if you want. For something like this it shouldn't be more than a couple of hundred bucks

yep overall diameter, here in vic, its allowed to be max 1.5cm larger overall than factory

andd for the record, aparantly its called placard, rather than placecard of what i have been calling them.
but i do like vans idea of getting it engineerd, sounds much more legal.

Thanks for the compliment Jase.

Van is right. It's overall diameter.

Thanks a lot for your help guys but i tried the rims on my car yesterday without tyres on em and there wasnt much room for a tyre in there to miss the suspension... i think they might just fit with 225 tyres but Ian diffen guy said he probably wouldnt try put them on just stick with my 18's or buy a VE and put them on there haha.
