Default Retro fitting LS1

I was wondering any issues of retro fitting an LS1 into my 63 Belair.

Any tips would be great.

Thanks

You will need to meet all requirements in terms of emissions, suspension, brakes etc and require an engineers certificate amongst other things.

vicroads.com.au has some guides on whats required but ultimately the engineer who signs off on it will have the final say.

What Pro-GMH said but all the emissions are applicable to the engine, not the car. That means cats, restricted fuel filler, exhaust noise etc. The list goes on.

No, sorry

you require the most stringent regs of either the engine or vehicle.

in your case, your HQ engine would have to be upgraded to WB pollution specs.

just remember that HQ-HZ had the same engine number prefix...........go the HZ

Wabbit is right. And the Belair to the LS1 requirements.

Note to self: I must remember to note things more clear.

you cant drop in a motor thats older than the car ie replace a vh's blue 202 with a hq's red 202. and im am to belive that the only way around this is if you convert to lpg dedicated (remove petrol gear).

The regs say you cannot have an older motor in a newer car. Doesnt say you can if you run gas. I still think technically its illegal as theres no mention of exemptions.
