thats easy, its because most people are right handed and back in the day obviously everyone would fight with their swords in their right hand and this included whilst on horse back. to show that america was a civilised and unwar like country (does any one else see the irony in this?) they decided to "drive" on the left hand side of the road. i suppose england chose to do the opposite for the purposes of practicality, ie it made it easier to fight someone, and obviously australia as a commonwealth country followed suit and i dare say thats why most commonwealth countries do also. as per the rest of the world who cares, LOL

cheers adam

If you've traveled throughout ASIA............. is All over the bloody road.

They're philosophy is the white lines on the road just show you where the road starts and stops. where you go on it is your interpretation. Doing 120 on the opposite side of the road into oncoming traffic in a Taxi in light rain in Northern Thailand has a sobering effect. Far outweighs lunar park for value.... Then to turn and look out the back window to witness other people following suit brings uncontrollable fear, dodging back and forth to miss cars, tour buses, and people on push bikes carrying chickens and pigs... yea im sure you can imagine.

And later i was apprehended buy a copper for not wearing a helmet... work that out.

Because of democracy. can't have every thing the same can we.
Hitler made the austrains drive on the right side of the road. but after he was gone they went back to the other side.

lol bosshoggett, i live here in thailand and i reckon the traffic and road rules are superb.....

nothing beats getting in the car and going as hard as you can breaking as many western road rules as possible on a daily basis, only thing that beats it is doing the same same on my scooter.

although it seems to work on the kaos theory it does actually work quite well.

Yea it does work well, although still for me can be terrorfying on a bike on the major roads. BKK to Ayutthaya or peak hour late evening in major areas.

where as here we would abuse anyone for beeping their horn, there there is a code of conduct from, little here i am beeps. to F**K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What still freaks me out is all the Holdens you see from time to time, i know theres a riced out HQ prem 4 door with a 202 in BKK in Sukhumvit soi 12? with wheel spinners and Bhuddhist prayers all over the hoodlining and crap dangling off the rear mirror.

Theres a 5 litre HQ coupe thats been turned into a convertible in Samui close to the airport, that appears to be owned by local fishermen ??

Ive seen a few UC torries and Statesmen in their usual prayer'd out state.
And ive got a few thai DVDs from the 70s complete with HJ panel van cop cars, and other stuff.....havent seen any with bubble window shaggin wagons with Trans am front ends yet.... but dont see that shit here either.

Oh god. So you're saying that he cut up a genuine Monaro??

I've seen what happens when you let religious freaks wielding spray guns onto a car.

Was riding in a taxi, a rusty Jumbuck (it's a proton ute) pulls up at the traffic light, has all these crosses sprayed on it, there's a figure of buddha on the dash. Then pulls a rubber-burning right turn and shoots down the road...
