shouldn't affect structural integrety in any way and all that but was concerned about the law on visibility and all the other stuff that comes up by doing it all

Can't see a problem with the side windows. The rear one could open a can of worms. I know there are food vans that have them painted out but that is for a particular reason. There's an earlier thread here about dark tinted windows but I CBF looking at the moment.

You will be able to block them out completely, as long as both your side mirrors provide enough visibility to warrant not being able to use the rear vision mirror.

When I get back to work in one week I will check with the engineers at work ( Vicroads) for you, but from an enforcement point, I wouldnt look at you, I really cant see any ADRs that you would affect, will get back to you in a week on an answer, a good point made is that Food transport vehicles have them blocked out and dont require any certification, cheers.

Hi Guys, spoke to two light vehicle engineers at work today ( Vicroads) and this is there answer, you can remove the rear windows in a wagon and fill the space with metal of equal or greater thickness than is used in the car, you can remove the rear tailgate window and replace this the same as long as you have a left and right exterior mirrors fitted, they also made the comment that you cannot tint the factory windows black, ( opens a hole can of worms regarding food transport vehicles), but they assured me as you are not reducing the structural strenght of the factory wagon by replacing with steel panels it would not require a VASS in Vic, hope this helps you, cheers SSLX76.

In that case then can you tint the rear window of a car as dark as you want?
