Good news for any of you who are in Queensland...
Powercruise is coming back to Queensland Raceway on 14-15-16 October. And I got inside info that the promotor has signed a three year deal with the track so we won't be loosing the event in a hurry! If you're in NSW, the event is still on at Eastern Creek Raceway 5-6-7 August, and again next Easter. Don't tell anyone but... The good-oil is that the event may be held in another couple of States too... I'll keep you posted. |

Hey SpLiT
The reason Kalbar is "finished" is because, believe it or not, developers have moved in to the area behind the showgrounds and are building a housing estate there. The local council have said that there will be no more Autofests held at the site. Sad part is, the club itself has a long-term deal to hold their club-meets at the venue, so nothing can be done to stop the monthly burnouts until the lease expires. The Autofest was never included in the original lease and a permit was sought to hold this event on an as-needed basis (ie every year). Very short sighted of the committee... The club, as I understand it, are looking for another venue, or to even purchase their own slab of land in conjunction with a couple of other clubs. Bottom line - Kalbar isn't "finished" as such, just temporarily without a home. I have just one question about all of this with respect to the new housing development, though... Who the f*** would want to live at Kalbar? Keith |

Sure do... We try to cover as much action in the different states as possible. Matter of fact, if anyone has any suggestions about events they think we should be at, please feel free to let us know... Or even a good story for Grunt Files about a good tuff car or a crazy street-machiner - we're always interested. We'd even do a bit of a story about a nurse who had a cool 2004 Monaro if the opportunity arose... That is, of course, if the Monaro is tuff enuf
Cheers Keith |
