First big hurdle is advertising.
We've recently organised a 2nd annual car show without the cruising part and the major factor was getting entrants there.
The best part of the whole thing was having a reputable charity on board and some great sponsors, that makes it a little easier.
And $$$$, got to be willing to cop a loss if let's say the weather doesn't hold up it's end of the bargain, could change an entire day and 6 months worth of planning........so rain date.....is a GREAT thing lol

the "cruise" strip i wanna use is actually a street in the town where all the mechanic shops are, there are car yards, repco, auto pro etc so its the street where the majority of automotive is located so i cant imagine to many hassells getting sponsers by them.

I always wanted to organise it for a charity from day dot, and where the cruise strip is there are 2 charitys at the end of the strip so will be doing it for both of them.

it just seems like a really good spot to have the show, i might even be able to organise the show and shine on the showgrounds 100m from the cruise strip so that leaves the strip of stationary cars.

in the new year im going to talk to council and local rag and see if the ball starts rolling that way.

I remember the original Kandos show in the main street and the burnouts in the main street was just tops! dunno if i will be allowed to arrange that but.... be cool if i could!

i'm guessing that you are talking about tudor street i dont think that you will get council approval to shut that down but you never know. i'm also in newcastle and pretty keen to set up a show as well .Being in a car club helps and having contacts around different places helps 2 . Another good place to have a cruise would be on the foreshore they shut that down for triathalons and stuff like that so surely they could do it for a charity cruise show aswell are you involved in any car clubs at all because that would increase your chances aswell

I'd say before you worry about insurance (most of the time you can get away with a very good disclaimer, and get all participants to sign their lives away), and everything like that, is to first talk to some of the charities out there.. You'll find most have event organisers that can help.

Take Variety Queensland. They organise around Australia bashes all the way to short half day drive and bbq's...

Get all your ideas down on paper so when you talk to them you don't miss anything. Set up a time to meet and discuss your ideas, more often than not they'll be very happy to lend any support they can.

actually V8CAPRI im thinking of trying to hold it in port stephens st in raymond terrace. close down the street there and possibly use the grass area near the counsil chambers for the show n shine and "maybe" some grass driving events

they just put a new aldi supermarket in tho so thinking any chance i might of had will be minimal now with that there, but still never know, if anything it might mean the "cruise" strip be shortened by a couple of hundred meters cause they made a new roundabout to access the new supermarket.

who would be the best insurance company to talk to??

im waiting to get my car finished before i personally rejoin a club, but if anyone is in a club maybe some expression of interest??

i was thinking with advertising i can have a website made easily enough and branch it off from there.

also a matter of pulling my finger out and getting some time to organise arrangements

mike should remember me, tell him dave with the green XA, he gave me the tri y's for my 460 which came from his 429 XA ute.... not a bad score if i do say so myself, im not complaining!

anyone know what part of counsel would i need to talk to ??

brett... yeh little out of the way out where you are, but good run on the buckets you can be here in around an hr... i dont mind heading out there when i get the time, very nice spot...

im currently just trying to sort out some personal shit, but once thats out of the way im gunna start door knocking.
I also have a contact within the counsil in regards to rubbish bins and porta loo's so that will be easy to organise, and in a way knowing someone in the counsil might be handy in more ways than one im hoping....

i have connection with scouts too so im sure a few groups can look after BBQ's etc and just another association id like to include along with the charities

just gotta start it all off
