Agreed, very well put, but unfortunately car lovers will be the only ones to see that piece of film. The general public will only see ACA crud.

good segment, some intelligent people interviewed, but yeah as already mentioned, it will never be shown on mainstream current affairs shows like ACA or TT because it's not controversialyou can't put a price on FUN

yep good opinion from our side that we all knew already... good to see it on film tho.
"good news never sells a paper" does anyone ever invite aca or tt to events or nights like this??? offer them a ride in a blown big block monaro and give them the real experience of what enthusiasts enjoy. Tell em to bring thier family and experience it. There has got to be some way of getting the media to do good reports on real enthusiasts and I think its more then us trying to seperate our selfs from being hoons. I bet if aca say no tt will take the offer with open arms.
Why arnt the salvos or charitys rattling cans at these events???? Would it be a good news story that would get air time if enthusiasts handed over 100g to a charity??? would aca have a bar of it???? am i wrong or would just a little bit of good do allot for us as a whole??? Do you have $1.35 in your console rattling around???? why do we not donate it all as a whole to get some good exposure. would it be a bad thing to offer 100 cars to " make a wish foundation" for half a day to take a heap of kids down beach road for a cruise???? would that make air time and make a difference next time people see a heap of enthusiats cruising next time??????
dont take it the wrong way but we either need to beat our own drum and get people listening or get out of the game. i dont believe its the hoons that rip burnouts on the street or a p plater in a vs with stockys on the back that is holding the scene back, it could well be that all the genuine enthusiats just arnt quiet doing enough action to make our scene respected like it should be. its going to take more then going to the drags and talking to each other to make a change. if everyone gets together like that big beer advert people will listen and there will be good media coverage on our scene.
i dont know where to start but im sure there are people out there that are already stamping thier feet and want to do something to make a change so why dont we start looking for em and support them and do some good for the sceneis lifting the wheels to much to ask??

what has modified vehicles have to do with ''the motoring industry''?
general people'' general people'' dont give a rats about ''modified cars''!
general people only give a rats about,day to day life,paying the mortgage,getting the kids to school,paying the bills,etc!
altho you can walk into gmh,ford dealership and purchase a 300kw vehicle of the shelf,thats not modified!rev the chev kev!

If we are to make any inroads into the general public perception of what car guys are really like, we need to push the positive aspects. We need to find a way to market ourselves as responsible, hard working people who love cars. The same way other groups fiercely protect their reputation. Whether it be an association that has enough finances to pay marketing costs to get on the TV and make a positive statement.
A good place to start would be to invite the ACA type media along to some quality car shows and put them in the passenger seat for a skid comp etc. Show them that its not just a bunch of red necks burning rubber, show them that its a highly organized, skillful, entertaining sport.

Bauchy and lx406 are on the money. Let's promote the positive rather than dwell on the negative.
We know there are charity runs which do well for good causes but a large donation wouldn't work. It'd seem like trying to buy favour. I like the idea of having Red Cross guys at places like Harry's; should be reasonably worth it for them and it'd be one small step to people realising the true side of our culture.
I think about graffiti. There's the art side to it that most people like and respect and some councils even promote; think the walls at Bondi Beach. World famous graffiti art! Sure some of it is illegal but it's rarely pushing the boundaries. Then you have people who "tag" and they're the destructive scum who deface and destroy property.
Yet most of the general public recognise the difference. If a bunch of backward cap wearing youths can gain a mild acceptance in the community surely we can.EFN 202 : knowledge is (horse)power!

I think that's the back bone of all media! Wether it's the papers or the tv shows !

God the community think bikies are generally nice people because they do a toy run once a year.
To win the community got to win the kids.
Kids hospitals, Take kids on a cruise or something (insurance would be an issue)
Toy Run of a couple hundred cars through the city delivering 1000s of toys to sick kids. Would just about bring the city to a standstill (Media would cover it and its a great cause) be hard to put a negative spin on that. Thats the sort of things that change attitudes cause donations dont work.
My 2 bucks anyway
