Default Car DVD documentaries

Lately I have been watching some DVD's about building hot cars and hot rods. I want to know what others there are around. I really enjoy watching them, seeing how other people build their projects.

I bought American Hot Rod boxed sets. Boyd Coddington builds some cool hot rods and muscle cars. Personalities are hot and cold.

Overhaulin is ok, but a bit wanky. Chip Foose is the main man. I also get a bit uncomfortable when they steal someones car and leave them upset for a week or so. If someone did that to me I would be after blood!!

I always found it depressing watching these programs that they turn it into reality TV and concentrate on dramas between people instead of building the cars. Overhaulin isn't bad but if they took my car and gave it back with a stupid big stereo system and oversized pram wheels I'd be pissed off. Most of this stuff shows on Discovery channel

LX406 , you need to get RIDES. Thats an awesome series, it has alot of different car builders including chip and Troy Trepanier. You can buy these boxsets online or i even picked season 1 and season 2 from bigw one day for $15 each when at sanity music or other stores still had them for $45 or $50.

Cmon 76lxhatch, admit it you love Pimp My Ride.

Monster garage is pretty wild, they take ordinary secondhand cars and turn them into budget versions of special application vehicles. There's one where they turn an old Ford Explorer into a garbage truck, complete with hydraulically operated swing open roof, and then they race it against a real garbage truck to see who can pick up the most rubbish in two minutes. It's pretty damn good fun. There's another where they took a Series IV RX7 and tried to turn it into a sand racer but failed, so Jesse James (the show's leading man) shoots it to bits with a truck mounted minigun. Pretty stupid, awesome fun.

There's also "C'etait un Rendezvous" which is some crazy bloke blasting through Paris early in the morning in a Ferrari. It only goes for 9 minutes but like "Climb Dance" (Peugoet 405 climbing pikes peak) it almost mandatory viewing for any motoring lover. It's real footage from the 70's, uncut, and the guy runs about 16 red lights while he's flying along. Can been seen on youtube but lacks punch without good audio.

Also, "Dust to Glory" is a great doco about the Baja 1000 mile rally in mexico, and anyone who likes V8's just has to hear the Trophy Trucks running. It's full of amazing footage from cars and bikes and really tells the story of the event well.

Wrecks to riches is another that glosses over the car building part a bit much but some of the cars are pretty cool. Monster garage is mostly not enthusiast type stuff but occasionally they do a hot rod or race car type build which is good to watch. Yes I love Pimp my ride...
