Default VX radio aerial clunk

when the car aerial goes up or down, at the end of the stroke it makes this horrible clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk noise, anybody any suggestions?

I dont know a VX that doesn't, common problem, the gears that drive it slip.
We've had A VX wagon, VX Sedan, And WH Statesman that all did it
The VT did it aswell, you would think they would have had it fixed by the fourth time (we had VX series two)

make sure the arial is free of any bends.. dead straight, and no kinks.. give it a tiny spray of silicone spray

i can happily say that both my current vx and my ex vt didn't make that noise but i have heard them

VTs love to do this. In our case, it happened after a spanner was accidentally dropped on to the area where the aerial comes out. Got it fixed, never happens now...

I don't own the car (its my old man's) but he asked a friend (mechanic) to have a look at it... I think what happened was that the spanner got the aerial out of shape. Got it fixed by him, doesn't require lubricant, works great now.

Dunno exactly how, but I think it bent it. sounded like the motor that retracts/raises the aerial was struggling heaps.
