Default grrrrrrrrrrrr wtf is going on here?

hi i wonder if someone can help me, i just bought an air compressor so i can paint my car and expose my self to the joys of air tools, any way ive set it up with ryco style fittings on everything and went to play with it to learn about it all. my problem is that when i switch the compressor on and get to the desired pressure it just doesnt seem to work properly and i cant f#cking figure out why. if i plug my air squirter directly into the female connection that ive fitted after the regulator it works fine, if i plug the air hose in between the reg and the air squirter thingy it doesnt, ok straight way i assumed it must have a blocked hose, so i removed the female fitting off the hose and blew done the hose with my mouth, yeah i have air going through the hose, so i plugged the hose back onto the female fitting on the compressor so that the air can blow freely and nothing. for f#cks sake, if air can move freely through the hose and air can move through the female connection on the regulator how can i not have air going through both? please help as im sure someone else has had the same problem and im really stumped here, how can they work seperatly but not together?

cheers adam

is there a pressure valve that gets pressed in when you connect the hose, some sort of saftey so it can't throw the hose around if theres air spewing out of it?

yeah mark it has that pressure valve in the female fitting so if i unplug any tools the air doesnt just come out, i was wondering about that but i mean if it works fine if i plug a tool directly onto the compressor it ok but not when i plug the hose in between

thanks adam

I'm having a little difficulty picturing your descriptions but it sounds like the male fitting on the hose is not correctly opening the female fitting on the compressor. Is it the same length as the one on the tool that works correctly?

i know that some fittings will fit into each other(male female) but they are not compatible with each other.so it wont release the air. i would just try a different fitting,or you can take the fitting off your regulator and swap it with the one on the end of the hose and see if you can get air out of it from the regulator like you do now, that way you'll know if its the fitting or not.if that makes any sense

76 check the fittings male & female are a matching pair as there are many fittings that look simmilar but the male isn't long enough to open the valve in the female.I take it on your hose you have a male one end female the other.Take the male off the tool push it into the female, you should then be able to blow through the hose.If you can't male fitting is wrong.Take the hose & tool back where you got it & get matching fittings.

It is rediculous that they use different fittings to start with. Y dont they all use a nitto style coupling and be done with. At work I have about 5 different bloody adaptors for different equipment. Then you go buy a compressor and you have to by the regulator to go with it seperate. Who uses a compressor without one.

haha yea thats super cheap fittings......Been done myself...Oldmans on to it.
If you line them the fittings on the table and look at the male ends youll notice which ones wont open the valve. Its as obvious as tits on a bull.
