Scat Crank? - Aussie V8 | Holden - Ford

Hey Guys,

I've got a chance to get a Scat 355 crank and forged H beam rods cheap....$700, but I've heard some bad things about said cranks from you guys on various threads.

I can get the it balanced for next to nothing
( my mate owns an engine building business... he's f*ckin hopless but he grinds a good crank)

What would be the limits of a cast scat crank?

I wouldnt push it more than 7000rpm and keep it under 550HP and it will last forever. Scat are good cranks people give em a bad name cause they break when they try and put 600hp+ through a cast crank

...i run 516hp 383 chev, 482lb/ft, scat 9000series crank, i beam rods.
screams to 7000rpm on 98 oct pump fuel.

Fair enough... my heads only flow 480hp so I think I'll be safe.
