Similar Cam to the Heatseeker Stage 3
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to find a Cam as close to the Heatseeker Stage 3 cam advertised on the Watson Racing / Heatseeker website as I can as I'm collecting parts for my engine builder. He strongly suggested that cam but I've since found out that they have closed down due to the death of the boss.
Specs for the Stage 3 are as follows:
cam specs.jpg
From what I can find there are similar items out there but as I'm not 100% on how much the lift, duration etc will affect my car I thought 'd post the question here.
Thanks.

Crane Cams PowerMax H276 is about as close as you'll get. Those Heatseeker cams have quite large advertised duration compared to the 50thou figures, also the rpm range (2000-5800) seems abit high to me. Post up your engine specs in as much detail as you can theres are plenty of guys on here who can help with a suitable cam.

Engine will be build in Late October. Specs are:
Holden 308
Holley 650 Spread bore Vac secondarys
Harrop dual plane manifold
Flat top pistons .030
VT heads
Turbo 350
2200 Stall
10 Bolt 3.08 Diff
Exhaust will be after market (obviously)
I was looking at the Crane H276 actually.Last edited by ThirstyMQ; 18-07-2012 at 10:28 PM. Reason: Forgot a bit.

low stall, hi-way diff gearing I wouldnt go too stupid with the cam .....
lift makes power, you need a certain amount based on your bore/stroke, intended RPM, valve size, and how the airspeed is in the heads to decide where you need to be but ...... If you have a 1.94" valve times that by .25
1.94x.25 = .485" lift, thats the point where the valve is out of the way and allows the port to work, that is the theoretical minimum for that to happen ... To keep a basic performance 308 up to 370-380Hp you'd need around .500-.510 lift.
Are you willing to change to high performance springs? do you have roller rockers?
CT248 513 (a) Thats 222/222 .511/.511 but I wouldnt do it on the 112 Lobe Separation, camtech will do that one for you on 108LSA and you advance it 2 degrees ..

No roller rockers and they are more than likely not going to come to the party. I have LT1 Springs.
This car will be a daily driver. I'm not into burnouts or drags. I want something a little angry that I can stab every now and then and feel the fruits of my labour.

Maybe something a little tamer then to go with the LT1 springs and stock rockers and pushrods .. Keep it under 5500RPM
The H276 would do what you ask .....

Wade have some nice profiles too if you wanted to try something other than the Crane H276, they'll work with LT1 springs and stock valvetrain. Profile 1069 222/222 .488/.490 110 or the 1147b 226/226 .500/.500 110

Those springs are about a 5500RPM valve spring ... No point going sky high with them, I'd do the camtech 513 but ask them to close the lobe separation up a little bit, they'll do that for you...
