ive done it in a vb, same as vc i spose was a factory v8 k frame is the same just rack and manual intermediate shaft.
i had the same thing with being sold a k frame with the rack almost had the original out to swap them checked and they were the same,
took it back blew up at them and got my money back
smitty do you run power steering?
and do you have the factory pulley on the crank?
ive just tried fitting a reduction pulley and the spacing for the power steering pulley is about 12mm closer to the motor and the pump
will not go back that far got one last resort (250 dollar aftermarket pump) and if that dont fit thinking of going manual steer with 1.25 camber and 5 caster thoughts?

Thanks mate!
With your ofset pulley issue I had the same drama when I put all 304 acc on my 308.. I originally used 4x12mm thick nuts behind the pump as spacers and got longer bolts but now I have a plate I ave up from 12 mm steel. Nice and tidy and works perfectly.

I run a factory style pulley in front of a gilmer cog to run the power steering on mine ...see pic

and why have power steering ?
My front set up with nearly 3° of camber and 6° of castor makes it unsteerable especially at low speed..without the power assist.
The castor is the killer with this set up (not so much the camber setting). But combine all that with 2mm toe-out
(for quicker turn in on corners) and the Hulk could not steer my VK without power assist . You can clearly hear the pump groaning when turning at low speed.
However, out on the track at high speed its beautiful nice to drive ..hands off at 200 stuff
note ..I also have a pwr steering cooler tucked under the radiator support panelLast edited by Smitty2; 11-05-2012 at 11:05 AM.

no worries
mine is different to both of yours then my pump needs to go back towards the block to space it back you need longer bolts to hold it to the bracket and they wont fit between
the pump housing and the pulley and the housing fouls on the bolt that holds the rear bracket to the head.
So yeah power steering pump pay day then. the one i looked at has a keyed shaft with a nyloc nut on front
if the pulley they sell to fit it isnt right ill be able to turn up my own to fit, the factory one is pressed on and its the original one off the car so maybe
time to replace it anyways
