The only stock mechanical pump I've ever seen that supplied a 308 making 400 hp was an L34 pump with a 10 lb spring in it and a fuel pressure reg but good luck finding an L34 pump !
All the mech pumps available these days are the non serviceable type and there only good for a stocker !
There are specially made high performance mech pumps available but there not cheap and the name escapes me at the moment !

Hmmmm dunno anything about those though they are serviceable so maybe it could be modded !

Always makes me laugh when they put a flow rate on a mechanical pump - mechanical pumps are variable flow according to rpm so I wonder at what rpm it flows 80 gph ?

mate...Goss do a hi pressure fuel pump kit(Fuelmiser dont anymore)...basically comes with a diaphram with h/d spring, high flow valves which you press(lever out with screwdriver) out of the main body and another seal and a ss pin for pump lever.

i rebuilt my pump with this kit..it will run at 7 psi max pressure and my 308 is makin about 350 neddies

actually...i'm thinking of changing to a Holley Blue electric because my pump and lines and carb get really hot..which may be the cause of a persistant carb problem i've had

i thought about the Ozrace pump too..but $300...? a Holley Blue pump about $180...hope that helps.

had a replacement mech fuel pump from bursons supplying the 355 in a full weight HQ and ran 11.60's all through the standard 5/16 lines and hoses into a 750hp holley

as far as the part numbers were, all replacement pumps were exactly the same 253 through to 308 including L34 for aftermarket from them.

    made 326RWHP on chassis dyno
