Default 308 slight missfire when warm

Hey guys, took my 308 gemini for its first real drive and skid tonight and drove fine to start with but after it got warm (and done a burnout) it started to miss a bit.
not too bad, but noticable.. anyways came home pulled a couple plugs and they were white..

The carb (quadrajet) was supposibly rebuilt for this motor and tuned so im kinda surprised that its running lean, can timing make it lean? Ive
set the timing as shown in the attachment, and currently have no vac advance hooked up.
Whats my next step in fixing this?

should mention too, was told by the previous owner of the engine that it has adjustable timing gears and they set it up 2 degrees retarded for more low down power (ex speedway)
Should that affect what i set timing to?

Also it was really fumey when i got back, so much you couldnt stand near it without stinging your eyes... i assumed that this ment it was running rich but plugs say
    otherwise..

I dont think the cam timing effects the base ignition timing.
Sounds like you are running lean. I have read somewhere that when the mixture is too lean then it stings the eyes and odour is really noticable.

yeah to lean can make it missfire the unburnt fuel goes out the pipes.retarding a cam moves power up rpm advancing it moves it down rpm
I love Prius drivers cause I need their share of the fuel supply!

just had a chat to the guy that built the motor and ive now realised that im trying to run an 11:1 comp motor on normal unleaded, bp6fs and 10 to 12 deg timing!

I think ive found my issue lol.
