Talking injection questions

just a couple of quick questions regarding the injection install.

i have just fitted to my injected 308 a brand new altenator which i had laying around. the altenator is a 37 amp job the one i removed from the donor car was an 85 amp. question 1: is a 37 amp altenator sufficient???

i am at the stage in the build which requires me to link my new castle auto loom to the car loom
question 2: the donor car i removed the loom from ran a tacho dash which had gauges not lamps for water etc so will it run a gtr lj dash or other electronic gauges as i have used all the senders also or will i have to stick with lamps and get new senders and gauges a t a latter date??

question 3: does the fuel regulator attach to the map sensor via a tube i was sure it did but cant remeber

thanks guys for any advise given.

Depends on the load ===> 37 amps is only 440watts.
EFI installations are very sensitive to voltage.
Fuel pump flow is significantly affected by the available voltage.

Fuel pressure regulator must see the manifold vacuum or boost.
I like to connect this on its onn line to preserve signal strenght.
Some use a T off for the map

I did see one Supercharger installation where the fuel pressure regulator was installed before the s/c and AFR was out of control

Sorry mate,even the 55amp alternator wont cut it,thermo fans,fuel pump,the ecu & injectors,it won't keep up.

Hook up the stocker 85amp alternator, the white wire is load sensing wire which goes to battery, alternator wont charge if its not connected, all the holden v8 alternators bolt up the same except for vs s3 & vt alternators.

You use the correct oil & water senders that came with that dash or take the dash to a vdo outlet & buy the correct ones for it,holdens have like 8 different senders for each. Also the tacho has to be recalibrated.

I think the hose from regulator goes to the little manifold pipes sticking up at the front of the manifold underneath throttle body neck.

so running indepent vac lines from the manifold to the reg and the map is the go??

85amp altenator going on.

the castle auto says use lamps so in the mean time i guess i wil hook up to the stock lj dash and use the lamps then sort out the senders and gauges latter. the lj gtr gauges are vdo??

if i wanted to change to the stock lj gtr gauges could i cut the exsiting sensors out and wire in the stock gtr ones using the vp v8 loom or does the ecu look at the sensors already?

Run independent lines.

No -
Typically ECU based systems need water temp, air temp etc to control the engine; so the sensors are wired via the ECU. If you change the sensors to suit the LJGTR dash the ECU signals may not be in correct range.

Unless someone has done it before, wiring diagram and ECU inputs will be required.

Nah mah,the sendors for the gauges to the dash are seperate...take off old six cyl oil pressure sender & water temp sender that went with the dash your using.

The sensors with the injection harness stay untouched..look under the throttle body in the manifold..one is the sensor for the ecu other is sender for dash gauge...capische?
