Default Honest opinion on straight gas setup

Hi all, I am looking at going straight gas on my stock blue 253 powered Hilux and am after some honest opinion on which setup to go. I was looking at an Impco 425 mixer as it will bolt directly to the quaddy throttle plate but I was wondering if the 425 would be overkill on this engine as I don't really get up to 5000 rpm and it is a stocker. But I am also in the process of looking at rebuilding as well. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Considering the 425 Impco is a on-demand system , there wont be an issue with "over supply" especially considering your using Spreadbore throttle plate from a Quaddy. With those tiny little primaries ,signal strength wont be an issue . Probably by far the best setup for your 2FLUFFY3 .

Thats what I was hoping to here, as from what I have read it seems to be the simplest and best setup to go with. All I was worried about was the effect at low rpm whilst in the scrub, but as you say they are on demand so would be fine. Thanks for the help. On a side note, when I rang IMPCO in Sydney yesterday the gas fitter there told me that the 253's didn't come with quaddies on them and that someone must have changed the manifold ????????? He then suggested I use a 225 mixer.

I think he's telling you porky pies when it comes to the 2fluffy3/quaddie combo 85commolux.
My old man had a VH wagon with a blue 2fluffy3 and it definitely had a quaddie on it.
The VC's had them too but I'm unsure about the VB's.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Rusty.

He , the Impco man is a moron , the 225 is for Dual fuel , and he wouldnt have a clue what holden had what carb came with what. Do you have the 4 barrel manjfold to fit it to ? . If so , just Grind down the center divider and grind out the throttle plate Ports till it looks like a Brock manifold .

Apart from the commodores that had the smaller quaddy standard , didnt the HQ SS 4 door thingy only come in 2Fluffy3 only , with a quaddy ?

Don't try and hide behind that facade.

we know you're a big softy.....2FLUFFY3 is still a V8, even if it doesn't measure up to a 2JZ...........Audible kudos is still kudos
