Default drag racing setup for VS ute

Just wondering what kind of setup I should go for in the ute at the drags. At the moment I'm just running my street stuff, which is lowered king springs all round and pedders shocks. It's live axle and is currently getting 1.7 sixty footers. I don't mind having to change it for each meet as I only run 3 or 4 times a year.

a good set of upper adjustable control arms will help and go back to a set of 6 cylinder springs for the rear and 8 springs for the front. lastly a set of koni adjustables all round all good for daily driving as well

1.7 is pretty sharp for what you have unless your building a (new) animal.

My car only 60' in 1.72 lol.

Not building a new animal, but I figured if its getting 1.7s as it is now.............then with a better setup I should see some good results.

mac 151 is right 90/10 are the best for drag racing but imo no good for street learnt that one the hard way you can get a good variety by using the koni adjustables each to there own though

cant tell you the price on the 90/10's but pedders do them im sure.

Anyone who says there lousy on the street obviously drives a car set up to straightline in a manner befitting Fangio, sure they wont handle flash but one should remember this while driving it and adjust there steering procedures accordingly.

I have no trouble turning corners at sensible speeds with 90/10's, spool and the finest handling 1976 had to offer (positive camber, no castor and ancient steering box)

I wouldnt chase a porsche thru the hills, but look out on the long straights lol.

actually if the dollars were there im all for an adjustable shock, best of both worlds without major spannering every time to go racing.

Have you put in those adjustable top control arms in..get the lower ones braced up & use nolathane bushes or whichever brand you prefer. For the front six cyl springs & 90/10 shocks.

But if its doing 1.7s now which i think is pretty good i would leave it as is for now.

My thoughts exactly, If i remember correctly, this is a street driven ute, yes? 1.70 60fts are not to be sneezed at.
What ET and MPH are you running at present?

Yeh street driven and the drags every couple of months. Currently getting 12.3/12.4s at around 111/112 mph.

OK, the calc' says a 11.8 is possible with that mph.
A 90/10 strut insert from Pedders will cost about $ 550 a pair. (please tell me if you can get them cheaper) and stay with your rear susp'.
Using a full slick, or MT type radial tyre?

Dunno if its worth spending a grand or more on the suspension if youre getting 1.7s tbh, that is pretty damn good + the car is a 6spd so losing some time on the gear changes, wheelspin means once you learn best way to drive it will probably only get down to the 12.0-12.1 maybe the odd ultra high if it all comes together perfectly...can understand wanting to crack that elusive 11sec timecard though.

Try to some cheapie std 6cyl springs & shocks for the front, see if it makes an improvement, rear end stuff do anyway cos it's cheap.
