Default MSD Ready to Run distributors

I'm looking at buying one of these MSD ready to run distributor packages off ebay because at $1100 including coil and 6DAL they seem good value. Has anyone used them? My only option appears to send my electronic dizzy to ICE and get it regraphed but cost wise i reckon it will work out similar.

What? Most places charge like $50 to regraph a dizzy don't they? Then you could get a Crane Hi6 with coil for about $250 delivered (max) off eBay USA.

ICE wanted $700 with new leads and coil plus I had to freight it both ways

TMI from VPW I think are $160 and an ACCEL 140008 coil would be all you'd need. You'd be hard pushed to get more ignition power that that set up. Most of the other stuff is just a sales gimick.

if your set on buying an MSD set up, make sure your not buying from AT WORLD RACING,or PROCOMP, they are SSS(shitty, shonky, shit) sydney special speed, the biggest set of rip off mongrel wogs that ever walked the earth, trust me on this one they have no warranty and pass the buck back and forth from office to office, till you just give up. Chris Mills Performance is your best bet and it is fairdinkim MSD product, good bloke, otherwise VPW or Rocket. TMW do your home work.

MSD is overrated compared to cost vs a well set up HEI and 140008 coil. Ive seen that sintered iron reluctor fly apart more than once.

Yup, you've gotta be getting pretty serious before a stock HEI with good coil won't light the fire.

I also like the crane HI6, mostly for the rev limiter - the actual ignition is overkill, but a rev limiter is nice, especially when traction is marginal & the risk of zinging it hard is there.

The MSD also has a rev limiter, two actually. One's set all the time by inserting whatever chip you want(6000, 7000, etc) and the other can be set up to hold a certain RPM at the push of a button.

The only reason I'd recommend the Crane over the 6AL is cost. From eBay it's much cheaper to get the Crane and they're still great quality.
