HE we go again , what KPH is your speedo error , it will roughly translate as 1 tooth per 5 KPH . So if your reading 5K fast at the speedo , add 1 tooth , 10 K fast add 2 teeth ,15 K fast add 3 teeth. What colour is your driven gear now ?
the range is 19 to 25 teeth ,sounds like the LIGHT BLUE 25 teeth is what you will need . |

what the man ^ said.u need to know what colour gears u have in it now and how far out the speedo is.
dont go off the holden book cause tyre size affects it. what ive got in mine with 3.55's is 100% accurate but doesnt match up with what the holden book says

The part number your looking for is 744 8810 you may not find it at a Holden dealer now days. Its a 3.9 14" gear for HQ HJ on. On the books since for ever. They were on as an option only. I have 2 of theses gears. 1 is in a car. Some time today I'll take a pic and post it up (if I get time)

I was going to ask what the difference was between the two driven gears and you have done that.
But I am a little bit confused still. I have 12 6 tooth gears and 1 7 tooth gear. I have 3 speed driven gears that are 6 tooth and 4 spd driven gears that are 6 tooth and they run left to right. Now I have 1 gear that is 7 tooth and runs the opposite way to both of the other ones, Right to left. So from your description the 7 tooth would have come from a 4.44 equipped vehicle, is that right. I have attached a picture to show what I am talking about. ![]() Thanks Paul. Last edited by HQ_SS; 31-08-2008 at 04:17 PM. Reason: to change to a smaller image |

Yuse guys cant count , there is a Blue and a white Drive gears right ?
white is a ten 10 toother and blue is nine 9 , you have to count the number of teeth in Mesh , not the number of teeth across the drive surface.Blue was in most late model V8's and White in 6 Cylinder jobs , though they did mix it up a bit Have a look at rarespares catalog https://rsp-secure.com/rarespares/de...20HX%20HZ%20WB Last edited by 400HPONLPG; 31-08-2008 at 07:38 PM. |

Now I am more confused I have both of those white gears and a green and also a blue.
![]() So is the green a white that has been recoloured by old oil or another type again. Then that still does not explain the gear with the teeth running the opposite way to all the others and that does have one extra tooth to the rest. I understand now what you mean by the number of teeth in mesh. ![]() Paul. |

On the Drive gears , is the bore/spline exactly the same ?, otherwise you might have the 3 spd all synchro job found behind the 2fluffy3 .
