Engine check light
checks for faults in the system
You can use it to diagnose a fault (number of flashes )need to do the short out with the diagnostic plug

In your lj if you dont want and extra light on the dash maybe you can wire up a globe an use the park brake light position ?

As above handbrake light think it would look ok i have it hooked up to the unused trailer light on the dash of the vh
on the park brake would be neat i think

I dont think you would miss it just remember to take it off habit just putting on

I fit a red LED with a black bezel, between the speedo and tacho on my VH. When the light is off you don't even notice it's there

wired up mine to the handbrake light or you could just have a globe in the glovebox next to the ecu for when you want to check the codes
