Default vk bonnet clearance

Probobly a long shot, but just wondering if anyone knows if my setup will clear the bonnet in my vk, 308 with edelbrock performer with 1 inch spacer and 650 holley, with a 3 inch air cleaner, will it fit under if i just change the air filter?

Yup.
2" spacer would be real tight, but 1" will fit.

Don't know your carby height, but I've got same manifold, no carb spacer, Impco 425, drop base 3" filter and it bumps on the underside of the bonnet, but fits.

Drop base with 1" spacer & 3" filter *should* fit - a mate has this setup, had to loose the wingnut & use a normal nut with washer, but it doesn't rub.

I have not tried this:

Use drop base with 2" spacer and 2" air cleaner with extreme air lid to fit under standard bonnet.

If you try it let me know?

if your going to restrict the carb with lousy air cleaners on a healthy engine, you may as well do away with the spacer and use a proper air cleaner.

it never fails to amaze that no one cares about getting the air into the engine, only what happens once past the butterflies.

case in point, those dinky tunnelram aircleaners on a single four, or fake injector hats with a tiny little aircleaner.

shove a sock in usain bolt's mouth and see how quick he runs the 100m dash, doesnt matter how "efficient" he is if he caint breathe good.

well my plan was to cut a hole in the bonnet an use a brock scoop, but for the time being i was just gonna wack it back in to get it on the road again..

QFT.

If you can't get a 3" air cleaner in then you're better off loosing a spacer.

I sorted a rammed 351 clevo ski race engine a while back - had one of those stupid 'mr gasket' scoops with 2x tiny air cleaners - bloody thing couldn't breath, we picked up a bunch of grunt by ditching the scoop & fitting a couple of decent sized regular K&N filters just out in the breeze, much betterer.
