Default Manual to Auto swap - VN 304

hi all,

im planning to swap from the T5 to a Turbo 350.

My understanding is that the block, regardless of if its auto or manual, is chev bolt pattern.... is this correct?

so therefore i can bolt a T350 to the 304... is this correct?

will i run in to a problem with finding a flex plate/stally to suit 304 to T350? (if not, what one do i use for this?)

Is the crank bolt pattern the same for auto and manual (i know some cars have different bolt patterns here)

what box X member do i use?

and anything else i might need to know??

Cheers in advance

The Holden V8s have the same crank bolt pattern throughout, 308/304 flywheels and flex plates are all interchangeable so no worries there. I'm pretty sure that they're all Chev bell housing pattern, its not hard to tell by having a look:

304 VN bolt pattern Turbo (chevy)

Crank all Holden V8 have same bolt pattern

Flex plate holden all bolt up to crank but not certain if any difference with torque convertor end. Turbo 350 were pretty common so assume it will not be a problem.

You will need to change spigot bush in end of crank (Auto has different bronze bush).

Cross member to suit not sure???

Tail shaft length and yoke???

Kick down for auto??? (VN I think is controled through ECU/BCU) T350 older type kick down switch or comp chip programed. Anyone???

Center consile setup???

Radiator and transmission fluid cooling lines???

Auto kick down became electronically controlled in VR I believe. The T350 should bolt straight up, wouldn't in anything originally backed by a Trimatic, you'd need an adapter or to fill and redrill the bolt holes in the rear of the block. Would love to whack a T5 behind the VL, shame the funding isn't there.
