Default Block deck height

What is the minimum deck height for a 304?

what do you mean minimum? Are you asking what the length of the block is from the main tunnel centre to the top of the deck? A standatd holden is anywhere from 8.895-8.855"
Are you asking what the piston to deck is standard .040"-.055" Most are on the higher side. Or are you asking what is the closest you can run the piston to the top of the deck? Zero is good and if your brave 10thou up is ok as long as it hasnt got forgies that rock with major bore clearance. If you have a thick headgasket you can run them up more. Min piston to head depending on rod type and piston type and RPM would be safer to be .037"

Sorry didn't explain myself very well.
How much can be machine off the block before it gets to thin, What is a safe deck height?
I ask because Im looking at the COME 355 kit, there k/b piston have a comp height of 1.425 meaning I would have to take off a futher .046"to get zero deck height, Ive already removed 0.040' to fit 304 acl flat tops in my previous set up. If I could find piston with a comp of 1.471 then the block would need no machining but Im yet to find one

You can surmise the heights and sizes all you like, dont rent space in your head with $hit like that, buy the things you want and bolt them in then measure what you want or need to get. I did a come kit recently that a customer bought direct and block was .015" down on standard and the piston was .027" above. (meaning it was 27thou above the block) There is a piston the size you want or close at least its the SRP 1.48" forged dead flat top not a left over 383 23 degree chevy job like the kbs you speak of.

Does this piston fit the A9l rod?

Do you happen to know the part number for this piston or who to cantact.

cheers

Yup, they're good slugs too, only suit 5.7" rod so A9L's are out.
The only thing to watch is comp if running dead flat top slugs in a 355 with early heads & zero deck - it's usually pretty high, gotta be carefull.

I don't generally hang the slugs out the deck for street engines - little gain & if you need to mill the decks in the future the slugs will have to be machined & everything rebalanced. If you run zero deck you've got a light skim or 2 left in the block before you have to worry about machining anything else.
For comp engines I've run them up to .012" out the deck on a .045" gasket - so .33" piston/head clearance - but that's pushing it a bit.

The SRP for the 5.7 is 1.43" And the SRP to suit A9L rod is 1.48". The 1.43" version usually needs .015" or more off it as they hang out.

The dish type are 11cc, I just did one with a chev based rod if you want a dish you need to tell them otherwise they are a true flat top
