Default What cam do you use, or what would be your ideal camshaft ?

Just trying to find out what the most popular cam is, are you happy with it? or would you go hotter ? what motor do you have?

i use a Crane H226/314-2s-8 with 1.65 roller rockers in a 308 revs out to 7000rpm with no probs strong even power right through the range

before the rollers it would just die off as soon as it went over 6500rpm

i like the way it performs but often think about going hotter

just wondering what others use

My ideal camshaft would be over 1.2" of lift, idles with 25" of vac powers from 1200rpm to 10000rpm will cruise at over 30mpg (city cycle) and 40mpg (highway cycle) is free and uses standard valve springs and will be made from a secret material only know in the racing fraternity called Unobtainium.

ha ha lol its a roller of course. Most guys on here run either the 286 crane or the advenurous 1s run the 288 crane. There appears to be no other cams around.

I run the high lift version of allports' cam.

EDIT: Gonna swap it out for a Crane 286, I got a great deal.

Forget Cams, try Electro-Hydraulic (Camless) valve actuation! Constant variable duration controlled by the ECU.
