well im not really sure on the cam and carby yet im kinda just buying one thing at a time. Im looking at making 400 anything over 400 id be happy with. im leaning towards a harrop though ive herd good things. The cam will be a hyd probably a 286.

Aren't there other cams similar to a 286 that offer alternative / better torque or power?
What are the alternatives and what is the major characteristic?

ok cheers man will the single plane fit under the bonnet of a hx as i dont wanna cut a hole in it. correct me if i am wrong but the single plane is better for higher revs and the dual is better for low down.

dont quote me but i think it will just fit uner the bonnet if you dont use a spacer and use a small filter and yes you are correct the single plane works well higher in the rev range dual plane lower in the rev range and will give better torque as well

would a 286 make 400hp??? u talking about RWHP or engine HP? if your after that power, i would look into something like a 288 solid crane cam. would go great with the 355ci and a harrop single plain and 750 demon carby... thats what i would do anyway
