Default give it a hone or leave it alone

    PIC_0291.jpg PIC_0288.jpg DSC00106.jpg

i noticed what appears to be a bit of glazing in the a couple of the bores ,but overall they seem in good shape to my untrained eye ,
so should i hone it now or is it not worth stressing about
    thanks

i would hone it, but if your getting wear in one of the cylindes more than others than id start looking at ring clearences etc oil ring condition
im not sure by the picture but that does look like typical thrust side wear of the bore
    a quick hone me thinks
If ya want more inches "Stroke" it

its mainly scuffing on the thrust faces which is pretty common, just give it a quick hone, then once the motor is back together, give it a hard time and load it up,

what sort of rings you running?

id give it a very quick lick with a tight fitting ball hone, for 308's i use a 4.5 inch ball hone, nice tight fit, kero as lube and realy hard and fast thrusts in the end of an electric 2 speed drill, i always use a reasonably fresh hone, nothing to old and worn, bout 10 seconds per bore and i get a very nice finnish

Better to be safe than sorry, a light hone is in order methinks.

Skidmarx, what honing tool are u using, thats a good result lookin at the pics u put up. I can get the lisle or the sutton flexi ball versions cheap and i wanna know which is better.

Yes you should use torque plates when honing even with a grout filled block.

The ONLY way to hone a block is with a semi automatic power hone like a sunnen 616 with sunnen stones and a skilled operator.PERIOD.

Flexi hones are for recoing lawnmowers
