Default 351 cleveland alternator

Hello,

I recently installed some EF thermos and i'm guessing the alternator is a 40amp (battery going flat) so now i'm chasing a higher amp alternator 85-120amp. I've seen a couple of users here have them.

How'd did you go about it?
Was it a retro fit? or can you buy them from somewhere ready to bolt on?

Any help would be great. cheers.

I'm not sure where to go and get them, but I'm pretty sure they're a direct replacement part.

Also holy shit, yeah if it's only a 40A alternator EF thermos will rape it!! They have a 40A fusible link near the battery just for their own circuit!

I ended up speaking with a few auto elecs who said an 85amp should be plenty, so i went with the 85 amp but i'm not completely sold.

Still charging my battery so i'll get some more results when thats done.

But when the battery was pretty flat it was reading about 12.8 volts switch on the fans brought it down to about 11.8, which i think is not good and means the battery won't charge?

I think it was 230.00 in the end, they pretty much refit your old alternator with new bits so the mounts are still the same.

The fans are awesome! huge amount of air flow.
