Hi All,
New to the site and this is my 1st of probably many threads. I'm trying to locate the original engine that came out of my 2/77 XC GXL Fairmont Coupe i recently bought. As some or most of you are aware Ford numbers for chassis and engine are identical up to i think 1989, so given that the engine number im in search for is- J country code (australia) G manufacturing plant (broadmeadow) 6 next 2 numbers stand for body style (coupe) 7 T year built (77) and also means factory fitted 351c 4v U month built (feb) 10283K these remaining numbers i'm told are some sort of I.D. system? This is my first attempt of many to find it any info or tips would be greatly appreciated, Cheers! |

The engine number will be same as the chassis number ,my xw is not the same ,chassis is jg33....................& the engine is gl.........c. Your original block should be a square block it will have a small square on the passenger side front of the block ,just below the dizzy hole. finding the original block will be very hard ,it could have been blown up thats why it has a different engine in it now. (good luck finding the original you may have to restamp your new block if your that keen)
